Pressure gauges incorporate delicate internal mechanical components that are susceptible to external process factors such as severe pressure fluctuations, continuous vibration, hydraulic shock (water hammer), and ambient temperature variations.
The use of fill liquid inside the gauge offers the following critical advantages:
Lubrication: Reduces internal friction and mechanical wear by lubricating the gear and rack assembly.
Corrosion Protection: Shields internal components from humidity and corrosive environments.
Vibration Dampening: Absorbs mechanical vibrations, protecting the movement and extending the instrument’s service life.

Advantages of Using Liquid in Pressure Gauges
Stable Pointer Readings: Ensures precise and fluctuation-free indication under dynamic conditions.
Calibration Retention: Minimizes short-term drift and maintains accuracy.
Enhanced Durability: Prolongs the instrument's life cycle and reduces maintenance frequency.
Condensation Prevention: Prevents internal fogging, even in humid or thermally unstable environments.
Below, we share the benefits of using a liquid-filled gauge installed in a high-vibration process.
Safety Considerations
Glycerin and silicone are the most common fill fluids used in pressure gauges. However, they are not suitable for all applications.
Warning: Both fluids must be avoided in environments containing strong oxidizers such as oxygen, chlorine, nitric acid, or hydrogen peroxide. These substances can react violently with the fill liquid, posing a significant risk of explosion and injury.
Glycerin: Suitable for temperature ranges between -18°C and 60°C.
Silicone: Recommended for higher temperature environments due to its superior thermal stability.
Installation Guidelines
When installing the gauge, use a fixed or adjustable wrench on the process connection only.
Note: Do not use the gauge case as leverage, as this can result in misalignment or internal mechanical damage.
